About

Preserving Community Spirit at the Porepunkah Pub

Nestled in the foothills of the Victorian Alps, the Porepunkah Pub has long stood as a cherished cornerstone of our small town. More than just a place to grab a drink or a meal, the pub embodies the heart and soul of Porepunkah, serving as a gathering spot for locals and visitors alike.

With a history that dates back to the early days of our town, the Porepunkah Pub has been a witness to countless stories of celebration, camaraderie, and community since 1862. Its rustic charm, with exposed brick and a welcoming fireplace, offers a nostalgic ambiance that transports patrons back to simpler times. The pub's walls are adorned with photographs and memorabilia, chronicling the rich tapestry of local history and traditions.

For decades, the Porepunkah Pub has been a venue for a myriad of community events. From annual Christmas gatherings and live music to spontaneous comedy shows, it has always been a place where friendships are forged over a cold beer and where visitors can immerse themselves in the local culture.

But beyond its role as a social hub, the Porepunkah Pub is also a vital economic lifeline for our town. It attracts tourists who contribute significantly to the local economy. By featuring craft beer and wines exclusively from our region, the pub demonstrates a strong commitment to supporting regional businesses. This dedication underscores its integral role in our community's sustainability and resilience, providing employment opportunities and fostering a thriving local culture.

The pub’s outdoor seating area, with views of the Ovens River and surrounding mountains, offers a serene setting that complements the region’s natural beauty.

In preserving the Porepunkah Pub, we have ensured the future of more than just a building; we safeguard a piece of our identity and a place where the spirit of Porepunkah thrives. Let us continue to frequent this historic establishment, participate in its community events, and celebrate the unique charm it brings to our town.
